2022-09-30 to 10-02: Ljubljana

We left Bled on Friday morning for a short drive to Ljubljana. We stopped in the small town of Å kofja Loka.

The river,

the church.

Whenever we park in a parking lot we need to figure out the system for payment. In this case, a young man told us that if we were staying less than two hours, we could just press the button that prints a free ticket; then place it on the dashboard of the car.

On Saturday we wandered around and happened upon this gathering with music and speakers and many people enjoying the day. Margaret asked one of the Franciscans what it was about and learned that it was a prolife rally.

Strolled through the Saturday farmer’s market. A big item this time of year is mushrooms.

Flowers, of course.

And a milk vending machine.

The Dragon Bridge is guarded by – what else – dragons.

Looking back at the Cathedral and the market hall.

Lots of vendors selling fruits and vegetables and just about anything else you might want.

The Franciscan Church where we attended Mass on Sunday morning.

Interior of the church.

The Mass involved a lot of organ music and hymns sung by a choir but there were no song books for the congregation.

The apartment where we are staying is in this building. Great location in the university district and just one short block from the Ljubljanica River.

View toward the river, just outside our apartment.

This group was playing in a square next to the river.

Serbian Orthodox Church

A very warm little space where people can light candles: in the upper bank for the living, below to remember the dead.

Tomorrow we drive to a town near the Munich Airport for the night. God willing, we will be home Tuesday evening.
